Addend
Any one of the numbers in an addition problem
Addition
An operation that combines two or more numbers to find a total number
Commutative Property of Addition
Changing the order of addends does not change their sum.
Formula
An expression or equation that describes a method for solving a certain type of problem. Often written with letters that stand for complete words.
Identity Property of Addition
The sum of any number and 0 is equal to the initial number. a + 0 = a. The Number 0 is referred to as the additive identity.
Number Sentence
A complete sentence that uses numbers and symbols instead of words .
Sum
The result of addition.
Equation
A number sentence that uses an equal sign ( = ) to show that two quantities are equal
Counting Numbers
The numbers used to count; the numbers in this sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,.....
Digit
Any of the Symbols used to write numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

The value of a digit based on its position within a number

Fact Family
A group of three numbers related by addition and subtraction or by multiplication and division.
Subtraction
The arithmetic operation that reduces a number by an amount determined by another number
Whole Numbers
All the numbers in this sequence: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, ........
Even Numbers
Numbers that can be divided by 2 without a remainder; the numbers in this sequence: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10......
Odd Numbers
Numbers that have a remainder of 1 when divided by 2; the numbers in the sequence: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11,.......
Comparison Symbol
A mathematical symbol used to compare numbers

Greater than
Having a larger value than.
Less than
Having a smaller value than.
Line
A straight collection of points extending in opposite directions without end.
Line Segment
A part of a line with two distinct endpoints

Numbers less than zero
Number Line
A line for representing and graphing numbers. Each point on the line corresponds to a number.
Positive Numbers
Numbers greater than zero
Tick Mark
A mark dividing a number line into smaller portions

A chart that shows the days of the week and their dates.

a period of time containing 365 (or 366) days
column
a vertical arrangement of numbers, words , or objects in a calendar, table or array.

a horizontal arrangement of numbers, words, or objects in a calendar, table, or array.
